Today we spent the day in Chicago. Diane drove us through the local neighborhoods so we will able to see the beautiful houses in some of the pricey neighborhoods. Alas, I was too busy gawking to take photos as I should have. We were quite fortunate with the weather. Chicago can be oppressively hot and humid. It was humid (particularly for 2 Denverites), but the temperature was in the low 80s so it was a great day for being Chicago tourists.
We saw the famous Water tower, the Hancock building and, of course, stopped for ice cream.
Alex and Diane are very knowledgeable about Chicago so they were great tour guides.

Tom and I have not been to Chicago for about 10 years. I think that our favorite part of walking around Chicago was the River Walk. It was not there when we were last in Chicago 10 years ago and is quite lovely and popular. The food and beverage vendors located on the River Walk are clearly raking in the dough.
Diane made reservations for us on the Spirit of Chicago for a dinner cruise. The cruise leaves from Navy Pier so we were able to able to check that out before we boarded the boat.
Before the fireworks started we cruised around and saw great views of Chicago.
The fireworks were beautiful. Tom and I stayed home on the 4th of July and did not see any fireworks so I was happy to see some (and meet my annual fireworks display goal). We returned to Kildeer at about 1:00am so everyone went straight to bed.
