Since we had a such a late night and because we were having such a great time hanging with Diane we got a late start leaving Kildeer. From there it was a long day of driving – through IL (getting around Chicago took an absurdly long time), IN, and in to OH.
Given that we live in the west we are not used to paying tolls and spent quite a bit of time complaining about that. After all you have to talk about something on these long road trips 🙂 On the other hand we feel fortunate that we are able to take this trip so determined that we should stop complaining about the tolls.
We decided we wanted to stop for the night around Cleveland. Tom suggested that we try to do a “real camping experience” (that is code for no casino parking lot) so I got on the iOverlander app (shout out to Rudy for telling me about the app) and found a state park just east of Cleveland – Punderson State Park.

It was a lovely park. Because we got there on a Sunday night there was hardly anyone around so we had an entire camping loop to ourselves. It was very muggy and humid but our trusty air conditioner kept us comfortable. We made pasta for dinner and then did some reading and turned in for the night.
