8-6-19 Exploring Corning, NY

We stayed another day in Horseheads so we could hang more with the family, catch up on the blog, do some laundry, buy some groceries, and most importantly – avoid a long car ride.

Today was a big day because Brenna’s daughter, Lauren, starts medical school on Thursday 8/8 in upstate NY and today was her final moving day (she had mostly moved in previously, but now she would be driving up and staying there. Lauren is an amazing young woman and will be an incredibly doctor. We felt fortunate that we could be in NY to wish her luck in person (though she will not need it because she will ROCK medical school).

Here is Lauren saying good bye to the dogs – Sadie and Charlie. Alas, Zebbie the cat is not pictured.

Brenna and Lauren drove in a caravan off to Syracuse (and left us alone in the house – clearly one must question the wisdom of that decision). Here is the caravan and the excited med student.

After destroying the house (kidding), Tom and I decided to venture in to the nearby cute town of Corning. We ate at the very delicious but poorly named (Hand + Foot) restaurant. The name instantly resurrects horrible thoughts of foot in mouth disease. It is actually named after a favorite card game of the owners. I am still thinking they need to rename the restaurant.

Corning is quite a charming town. The Corning company is headquartered there. There is a Corning Museum of Glass that I would have liked to see, but we ran out of time.
