The good news is that we got our tires rotated the previous day. The bad news is that after they were rotated Tom noticed that the inner part of the tires were VERY worn. Originally Tom had thought that the tires would last the trip and we would replace them when we returned to Denver. Looking at the newly rotated tires, that was NOT going to work. We immediately began calling various tire places (how did we all do this before the advent of the internet?) and determined that our best bet would be to drive to Bangor, ME. We would have preferred getting them replaced in Freeport, but all of their tire stores were too busy to help us (like I said previously – Freeport is one busy little town). We headed off to Bangor and spent 2 hours (we think the staff took a lunch break in the middle of our tire job) hanging around the tire shop. But we emerged with fabulous new tires and continued on to Bar Harbo – the town at the entrance to Acadia National Park.
We got excited when we saw our first sign of Bar Harbor. We got even more excited when we arrived at our campground for the night – Hadley’s Campground.
We quickly set up camp so we could then leave and check out Bar Harbor. On our way we quickly realized that lobsters were going to be a theme (My brother also advised us to beware of rabid lobsters – what a vision that is)
Bar Harbor was another busy place, but oh, what a place.
We realized it was Friday and the weather was glorious, so we felt an urgent need to have our own TGIF. We stopped for mojitos, enjoyed the view and lusted over the boats.
We returned to camp properly relaxed, ate some dinner, and eagerly anticipated our trip to Acadia National Park the following day.
