Today, we drove from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia.
I wish I could take credit for the title of today’s blog, but that is the tagline on the license plates in the Nova Scotia Province. Nova Scotia has over 4000 miles of coastline so they deserve it.
Our destination was Lunenburg – a UNESCO World Heritage site. I have not met a UNESCO World Heritage site that I did not like. We set up camp and then headed for Peggy’s Cove (we decided we would explore Lunenburg the following day) which has the distinction of being the most photographed spot in Canada. There is a lighthouse, a small fishing village, and endless charm.
There are some words in the English language that I feel were created to describe a particular place. Last year when we were in New Zealand at Milford Sound Tom said the word “awesome” was created to describe it. Well, the word “quaint” was created to describe Peggy’s Cove. Admittedly I was a bit skeptical about going to there – afraid of large crowds and, after all, I have seen lighthouses before. Peggys’ Cove quieted the skeptic in me. It’s soooo cute!
Our guide book recommended we go at the beginning of the day or the end of the day. We got there at about 4:00 and got the best parking spot in the visitor center so we knew that was a good omen. There were other people there, of course, since it is the most photographed spot in Canada, but today the crowds were not bad.
As you can see, the harbor is stunning.
We ate some fish and chips at a great restaurant only 300 yards or so from the lighthouse (trying to delay our departure as long as possible) and took more pictures.
When we returned to our campsite at Luneburg we were rewarded with a gorgeous sunset.

That harbor is amazing. What a great trip!
