9-5-19 Hello Again New Brunswick

Today we leave PEI and head for New Brunswick (en route to Quebec).  New Brunswick is conveniently connected to PEI via a bridge – the huge Confederation Bridge to be precise.  En route to the bridge we saw many farms (PEI is very green and very pastoral).

The Confederation bridge is 8 miles long and is the longest bridge over ice-covered water (luckily no ice today 😊).  The bridge and the ferry into PEI are free, but….you must pay the piper when you leave PEI.  The cost was $55 (a little more for us since we have a trailer). I’m glad we didn’t have to pay to take the ferry from Nova Scotia into PEI.  It does make you wonder though – do residents of PEI get a break on the cost of the bridge and ferry?  If not, PEI would be a pricey place to live – or should I say “leave”.

Being huge fans of National Parks, we set off for Kouchibouguac National Park in eastern New Brunswick (what a mouthful, eh?)  But first, wait, are we still not safe from the dreaded moose?  I had hoped our close encounters of the moose kind were behind us.

Luckily we did NOT see any moose en route to the park and arrived unscathed.

After setting up camp (very nice spots here) we set off for a picnic on Kelly’s beach.  Getting to Kelly’s beach requires a ½ mile walk on a boardwalk.

The boardwalk is necessary to protect the marsh in this area.

We brought our chairs and a picnic lunch and crashed on our chairs.  It was way too much work to rise to take a photo of us or the chairs, so I took a photo of the beach.

After eating out multiple nights in a row I wasn’t sure how we would settle back into the routine of cooking dinner in the camper again.  Luckily, we had some great fresh-grown PEI corn on the cob with dinner.  Corn on the cob makes everything taste good!
