9-6-19 Long Drive to Quebec City

We knew we had a long drive from Kouchibouguac National Park to Quebec City and we were right.  It was even longer than we had expected because the road across New Brunswick was very bumpy so we had to slow down.  Luckily,we gained an hour on the time-change crossing into Quebec.

Along the way I saw the name of the city where I want to live when I grow up – Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!

There has to be a heck of an interesting story around that name.  Other than the practical aspect of trying to tell people your city name, or put it on a form, I love the name!

Eventually we had a sighting of the mighty St. Lawrence river

Then we crossed the St. Lawrence in to Quebec City.

We found a campground about 10 miles out of town called Camping de Joie and settled in.

Observations thus far about Quebec:

  1. Signs are in French only – NOT English and French as I expected.
  2. Quebec refers to the parks in their province as “national” parks.  I kept seeing information on the maps about national parks and then couldn’t find them on the Parks Canada website.  That’s when I figured out that they were what other provinces would call “provincial parks”.

Tomorrow we shall explore the old town of Quebec City. Tonight we are too tired to move 😊
