9-7-19 Trailers, Old Town, and Old Friends

Our first destination of the day is, strangely enough, an RV show room.  While we were camping in PEI we met a couple at a neighboring campsite who had an extremely cool looking RV trailer.  He gave us a tour and we fell in love.  It is called “Alto”, made by Safari Condo.  He said that they make and sell them in Quebec.  We decided that since were would be “in the neighborhood” we would drop by the showroom, see the various models, talk to a salesperson, etc.  It was a great experience because the salesman was knowledgeable and not at all pushy.  We are definitely in LOVE with that trailer.  It is SWEET!

Next we headed in to old town Quebec. Our guide book told us that the best place to park is at an underground garage at City Hall.  Naturally, the machine at the entrance only spewed French. We did get in the parking lot, but without a ticket so we were pretty sure we would never see light again.  We eventually sorted out that if you insert a credit card when you come in, you can insert the same credit card when you leave it’ll work just fine.  I am now desperate to protect our credit card.  Without it we’ll be trapped in the parking garage dungeon for all of eternity. It it going overboard to hire armed guards for the day?

We immediately set off for lunch.  Trip Advisor came through yet again with “Rioux and Pettigrew”  – pretty much the best brunch I’ve ever had.

After lunch we wandered in to a really fun glasses frame store – Les Branches Lunetterie.  I need a new pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses.  Not a problem – pick a frame and they will put in some polarized lenses!    I had a fun time trying on some of the wilder frames.

Audrey the stylist took pity on me and helped me find these frames.

There was a temporary public art exhibit occurring so we saw some of the art during our wanderings.

There was also an antique car show along one street.  My favorite car was the 1956 Ford Fairlane but Tom drooled over this Cobra.

We made the obligatory photo stop at Fresque Des Quebecois. The wall was painted in 1998.  Can you spot Tom in the mural?

We saw the Anglican Cathedral that the British built after they conquered Quebec in 1759.  They made sure the steeple was 3 feet taller than the nearby Catholic cathedral.

While we were at lunch our friends (from Denver) Jeff and Jane called us up and said “Tonight is our last night in Quebec.  Let’s meet for dinner”

We had a glorious dinner with glorious friends.

We were tired tourists when we returned to the camper – so much fun, food and friends!

  1. Adore the sunglasses and will definitely plan a trip to Quebec – what a fabulous city! I was there once in college, but I think you could spend a month there exploring everything and soaking in the art and history. Thanks for the great pics!! And yes, I covet all of your sunglasses 🙂
