9-23 through 9-24 Indianapolis Part I – Caldwell Family

We are in Indianapolis for several nights because we have 2 different sets of friends there.  Laurie is my friend from eBags.  Debbie went to college with me at Dear Ole Macalester.  Coincidentally, they both live in Carmel which is north of Indianapolis.  When I mentioned that to Debbie she told me that all the “cool people live in Carmel”.  Knowing these women and their families I am going to have to agree with that 🙂

When we got to Laurie’s house she gave us the grand tour.  When John and the kids got home we all went to the really cute Carmel town center, had dinner and walked around. I was clearly out to lunch (or at least dinner) because I neglected to take any photos ☹

Tom & I visited the Children’s Museum the next day.  The Indianapolis Children’s Museum is amazing – much better than Denver’s.  Even the outside is interesting.  Check out these dinosaurs coming out the side of the building.

We enjoyed the Pop Culture exhibit.  I remember when Lady Gaga was first photographed wearing these shoes (my feet ache when I think about it).

Spiderman was hanging upside down in the exhibit.  I wanted to go in for the upside-down kiss like that first Spiderman movie, but was concerned that Tom would be too jealous.

I had a near fatal attack with TRex in the dinosaur exhibit…,

…admired the skull of the newly discovered Dracorex Hogwartsia (named after Hogwarts from Harry Potter)

..and fantasized about being a driver in the Indy500 as I sat in a real Indy car at the museum.

Outside of the museum they have an amazing tree house. I tried, but could not keep Tom out of it.

We also went for a quick trip to the Grand Canal

That night we celebrated Laurie’s birthday with champagne…

…and cupcakes.  Laurie was short on candles so we went with the “1” candle and let Teddy blow it out.

Tom read a book to Teddy, and Catherine tried to get in on the action.

One last shot of Laurie and Catherine.

Laurie, John, Teddy and Catherine will be greatly missed by us (alas the only photo of John I have is blurry so I’m sad).
