8-24-19 Hiking Lookout Trail

Today’s activity – HIKING!  We went to the visitor center and talked with the expert – the park ranger.  She recommended the Lookout trail if the weather cooperated (i.e., hiking up and then seeing a bank of fog would not be fun), so on our to Woody Point (town near hike origin) we keep checking the clouds.  The weather changed constantly so we weren’t sure what we were going to do.

Regardless, we enjoyed the drive. Everything is so green here.

Driving in to Woody Point we spotted a cruise ship.  The setting is lovely, but we are very happy that we are camping, NOT on that ship 😊

The weather was looking good, so we set off on our hike.  The hike was a climb (850 ft – Tom’s bionic knee is hanging in there), but the journey was so very scenic.

Near the top, the hike turned in to a long boardwalk to protect the marshy land.  Great idea!  And I’m so glad that I’m not the person to maintain that boardwalk.

Naturally the best part of the hike was the top.  And, to make it even better, there was a viewing platform and two really comfortable Adirondack chairs!  Sitting up there and enjoying that view was amazing.  We love Newfoundland.
